We all just want to know where things stand

I can't help you know that regarding your relationship, but I can help you know where things stand with your repair man, team project, your favorite singer's new album, progress with your favorite startup, etc.

Billions of dollars get invested in communication tools, and yet "any update?" is still the most-typed message on Earth. The fix isn't another two-way tool with another inbox to groom. The fix is the thing we now take for granted: a tracking number. A package is silent about its status, not because it's mean. Rather, it just can't talk. Same with people, they're not being mean. They just can't talk to you. But they can post an update for anyone that cares to check in and find out the status.

So that's MyStatus: a read-only link for tracking everything. You post updates; anyone with the link follows along. No comments, no replies, no noise — readers observe without bothering the updater. The history never expires, because the permanent record is the accountability.

Discussion about updates doesn't happen here; however, if you're following a task, there's no reason you can't copy the permalink to a particular update then paste that where you and your friends hang out. You can then chat about it in the safety of your friends group, family group, or work group. That's why the permalinks exist, to foster discussion elsewhere.

Not every reader here is human (that's on purpose)

Out of the box, systems don't talk to each other. At a tech conference last year, a global shipping company said that is their biggest problem. A boat leaves Singapore late, and the systems waiting on it in Europe and the US have no easy way to know. Nobody's hiding anything — the systems just were never introduced to each other.

Now give that boat its own MyStatus task. It posts "left Singapore, 6 hours behind" once, and everyone downstream — the port system, the trucking system, the AI agent replanning a warehouse schedule, and the human who just wants to know where their stuff is — reads the same link. That's why every task here is two things at once: a page for you, and a feed any news reader or AI agent can subscribe to. And it goes both ways — a machine can post updates too. A locked-down server that accepts no connections can still broadcast "still alive, all good" once an hour to whoever needs it. Your grandma and a robot can watch the same task and both walk away knowing where things stand.

Who's behind this

I'm Tom Ortega — builder, founder, and a guy who's been shipping apps since before the App Store had a search box. MyStatus is a Dad Bod Games NYC Inc project (built via Omega Ortega) and was made so I can “build in public” my other biz, Remixing Reality.
