What is in this build

The footer of every page here carries seven characters naming the version that served it. This is where those characters mean something: the build itself, the newest piece of work inside it, and the public row that records that work being finished.

Newest work in it

9b8f2a0

The newest work in this build:

9b8f2a0 — A field note about how we found the mistake on our costs page. Not a test, not the page noticing itself: I was showing a friend that we keep a written record of every session, pulled up the night we shipped payments, and what the record said happened did not match what the page had published about it. Every test was green the whole time, because the arithmetic was right and was answering a different question than the label above it. Nothing here had ever read the transcripts back against the numbers we make from them.

Closed

2 further entries have closed since — work that is finished and merged, and is not in the build you are reading. There may be a little more than that: some tidying-up merges finish without an entry of their own.

The two are different questions and that is why both are here. The first hash identifies this build and appears nowhere in the public record — releases are not the unit the work log tracks. The second is the newest piece of work the build contains, and it is in the log, which is what makes any of this checkable by somebody who does not work here.
