Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 1, 2026

Dad Bod Games NYC INC. ("we," "us," or "our") is a software development company. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our applications and websites (the "Service"), how we use and share it, and the choices and rights you have.

Please read this first: our Service is built for public sharing. The core purpose of the Service is to let you post updates that anyone with a link can read. Unless you hide content or mark it private, everything you post — text, photos, movies, sound files, PDFs, and links — is public, readable by anyone, and may be copied, indexed, or ingested by third parties anywhere in the world. Do not post anything you are not comfortable making public.

1. Information We Collect

Account information (collected directly from you). When you sign in, we collect your name and email address. We receive this information in one of two ways: you provide your email address to receive a Magic Link (a passwordless sign-in link sent to your inbox), or you use Sign in with Apple, in which case Apple provides us your name and email address (or an Apple-generated private relay email address, if you choose to hide your real one).

Content you create (collected as you use the Service). As you use the app, you create content that we store: photos, movies, sound files, PDFs, links, and text you write or edit. You control what you create and post.

Device push token (collected when you enable notifications). If you turn on push notifications in one of our mobile apps, that install registers with Firebase Cloud Messaging (a Google service) and we store the token it issues. The token identifies a single app install, not you personally, and exists only so a notification can reach that device. Turn notifications off, or delete the app, and we stop using it.

What we do not collect. We do not ask for your physical address, phone number, government identifiers, or payment card details, and we do not collect precise location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only for the following purposes:

To identify your account. Your name and email address uniquely identify you so that you can sign back in later, on the same device or a different one, and find your account and content.

To provide the Service. Your content is stored in the cloud so that your tasks and updates can be viewed by others you share them with, and so that you can access your own content across your devices.

To communicate with you about the Service. We use your email address to send Magic Link sign-in emails and, where necessary, important notices about your account or changes to this policy.

To deliver push notifications. Where you have enabled them, your device push token is sent to Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging service for the sole purpose of routing a notification to that device. We do not use it to track you across apps or websites, and we do not sell or share it for any purpose beyond that routing.

Under the EU/UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), our legal bases are: performance of a contract (providing the Service you signed up for — account identification, cloud storage, cross-device access) and legitimate interests (securing the Service and communicating essential notices). Where consent is required, we will ask for it and you may withdraw it at any time.

We do not use your information for behavioral advertising, and we do not sell it.

3. How We Share Your Information

Content you post is public by design. Unless you hide it or mark it private, content you post is publicly readable by anyone with the link, in a read-only fashion. Public content can be accessed, copied, archived, indexed by search engines, syndicated (for example via feeds), or ingested by third-party services and automated systems anywhere. Once content is public, we cannot control or retrieve copies that third parties have made.

Service providers. We use a small number of infrastructure providers (such as cloud hosting, database, authentication, and email-delivery providers) that process data on our behalf, under contracts that limit their use of your data to providing services to us.

Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable governmental request, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users, the public, or Dad Bod Games NYC INC.

Business transfers. If Dad Bod Games NYC INC. is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or in how your information is handled.

What we do not do. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes.

4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

We use only the cookies and similar technologies (such as browser local storage) that are strictly necessary to operate the Service — for example, to keep you signed in after you use a Magic Link or Sign in with Apple.

We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics that profile you across other websites or apps. Because we use only strictly necessary technologies, there is nothing to opt out of; if you block these cookies in your browser, sign-in will not work.

5. Data Retention and Security

Retention. The Service is designed as a permanent public record: content you post remains available indefinitely unless you delete it or ask us to delete it (see Section 6, "Your Choices and Rights"). We retain your account information (name and email address) for as long as your account exists. When data is deleted, copies may persist for a limited period in backups before being purged, and copies already made by third parties from your public posts are outside our control.

Security. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls that restrict private data to your account, and database-level authorization rules enforced on every request. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security; if a breach affecting your personal data occurs, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.

6. Your Choices and Rights

You may, at any time, request to access the personal data we hold about you, correct inaccurate data, or delete your data and account. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at tom@dadbodgames.nyc. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law (generally 30 days under GDPR and 45 days under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)).

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights:

If you are in the EU, UK, or EEA (GDPR): you also have the right to restrict or object to processing, the right to data portability (a copy of your data in a machine-readable format), the right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose; the right to delete; the right to correct; and the right to non-discrimination for exercising your rights. We do not sell or "share" (for cross-context behavioral advertising) your personal information, so no sale/sharing opt-out is needed.

Opting out. You can stop all collection of information by deleting your content and requesting account deletion at tom@dadbodgames.nyc. Magic Link emails are transactional (required for sign-in) and are only sent when you request them; we do not send marketing email.

We may need to verify your identity (for example, by confirming control of your account email) before fulfilling a request. We will not charge you for exercising your rights.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18. We have rated the Service 18+ in the app stores specifically so that parental controls and store-level restrictions prevent children from installing it, and so that parents have a clear signal that this app is not for children.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under the higher age of digital consent where applicable law sets one, such as under 16 in parts of the EU). Because everything posted to the Service is public by default, it is especially unsuitable for children.

If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 — or under the applicable age of digital consent — without verifiable parental consent, we will delete that account and its data promptly, as required by the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent laws. If you believe a child has created an account, please contact us immediately at tom@dadbodgames.nyc.

Parents and guardians: we encourage you to use the parental control features of the App Store, Google Play, and your child's devices, which respect the Service's 18+ rating.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and post the revised policy at the same location. If a change materially affects how we handle your personal data, we will give you more prominent notice — such as an email to your account address — before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after a change takes effect means you accept the revised policy, except where applicable law requires your fresh consent.
